Community Festival of Jewish Book
in Nikolaev

The Community Festival of Jewish Book (CFJB) was successfully finished in Nikolaev. This festival has become an event of not only our community life, but also of all city intelligence life. The attention paid to events of the Festival from city authorities and public organizations, and reflection of these events in local press and on television testifies to it.

Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community took an active part in organization and realizations of CFJB. On solemn opening of the Festival that carried out in the regional library named after Gmirev, the presentation of two books, in which issue Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community directly participated, passed. The typing of the book of verses by Nikolaev poet Evgeniya Pevzner "Moments" was carried out by the students and teachers in the computer class of Community centre of Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community. Other book "Our holidays" is a collective work of the participants of programs of Community center "Shofar". Children's art works and impressions about holidays of the participants of Community programs of different ages are successfully combined in it. The aim of CFJB besides acquaintance of members of the Community with immortal works of the Jewish literature was the attraction of new people to the Community activity. In this connection one of days of the festival was given for realization of Brain-Ring with questions on the Jewish literature, and the evening in Youth club also devoted to the Jewish book, was finished by mini-performance on works of Sholom Aleihem.

During days of open doors in the computer class of Company of the Jewish culture the guests of the Festival received a unique possibility to adjoin to creativity of the Jewish authors not only in walls of city libraries, but also virtually. "Internet - an open book". Such name has received one of the most interesting actions of the Festival. Demonstrating of the Jewish educational sites and web of pages of various organizations attracted, strangely enough, a lot of the elderly people, which were in delight from seen.

Collectives of the Vereshagin museum and Culture Community organized a literary-art soiree in the museum, devoted to creativity of an outstanding landscape painter of modernity I. Levitan, jointly. The verses of Pasternak, bewitching music of Beethoven and romances of Chaikovsky sounded. The rare issuings of books from the library of an art museum about Levitan, dated by the end of ХIХ - beginnings ХХ centuries, were represented. This evening left an indelible trace in soul of each who come.

CFJB was not limited by actions within the framework of the city. Under the personal arrangement of the chairman of board of Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community M. Goldenberg and a nikolaevite - deserved artist of Ukraine A. Antonuk opening of the exhibition of his works "Sholom Aleihem on Bogopoliye" was dated for the beginning of CFJB's work in Odessa.

All Jewish organizations of the city participated in solemn closing and concert. All this managed to be carried out due to the JDC's support.

We hope, that this festival will become one more kind tradition in the Jewish life of Nikolaev.
