THIS IS HOW WE LIVE

The Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community in city Nikolaev already exists 10 years, but it has achieved its real heyday after December, 1997 when it justified in the House of culture of the builders along the Nikolskaya #13 street.

Internationalism is a good business, but the wise people nevertheless consider, that the person without (or outside of) nationality, like bread without salts, bird without wings. And such dialogue of people in a circle of соплеменников, which happens in Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community, for the people of elderly age it is especially important. It was difficult to imagine seven years ago, things that happen in our Community life today. The special place is taken by the work of Elderly men's Club attached to Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community. It is necessary to mark, and I have experienced it personally on myself, that it is not simple for a person, which worked in various fields of human activity for a long time, trying to be to useful for people, enclosing him, to appear in full vital isolation.

Our Elderly men's Club helps us, people of higher generation, very much in overcoming of these difficulties. Each of us can find occupation on interests here. Attractive are a culinary circle, literary-musical showroom, learning the computers, chess club, lectures of a day off, where it is possible to listen to the lectures on various subjects, and generally to have a chat on various themes.

The revival of traditions of the Jewish people and meetings of Saturday, which are carried out constantly take special place in life of Nikolaev Jewish Culture Community. Certainly, all this has become possible due to support, both financial and moral, of regional branch of JDC.

I want to stay in more details on a literary-musical showroom, whose work is achieved by me. The meetings happen weekly, on Thursdays. Usually from 20 up to 30 persons are present, which are united with love to the literature, to music, to art.

During work of literary-musical showroom there were prepared and read reports on creative developments of Sholom-Aleyhem, L. Feyhtvanger, Marina Cvetaeva, Rasul Gamzatov, Omar Hayam and both other issued writers and poets of all countries and peoples. But the special enjoying was received by all of us during a concert devoted to creative development of Isaak Dunaevskiy, in which the actors of Nikolaev music-drama theatre participated.

We have a lot of ideas on improving and variety of work of the Showroom ahead. And we hope, that this our aspiration will have an embodiment in real life.
